I came upon the article below about people getting on Solange Knowles about her natural hair (the link to the article is below). Some say that her natural hair is always looks unkept. I have natural hair and I do not carry a pic or any type of comb in my hair. I can't speak for Solange, but I prefer a more wild unkept look to my hair. Honestly, that is the more natural state of my hair. It is not in a perfect afro and if I even think of trying to force it to do so, my hair is just like "whatever".
Someone said that Ms. Knowles rocks a natural wig or weave more than she rocks her own natural hair. NEWS FLASH: THERE ARE A LOT OF WOMEN THAT WEAR A WIG OR WEAVE INSTEAD OF THEIR OWN HAIR, REGARDLESS OF RACE OR HAIR TYPE!!!! If they didn't, then the business of hair weaves, extensions, or whatever else it may be called would not my a multi-billion dollar business industry!!!! Does it really matter that her hair is natural??? Is there some unwritten rule with those (more so Black women) that do not wear natural hair that those who are natural are not supposed to wear weaves ever??? I really do not understand.
People are so quick to criticize what they either don't understand or know nothing about. I really do wish that they would shut up.
So I lost the 1 pound that I gained last week. Which puts me back at 254 lbs. This is the closest that I have been to 250 lbs in a very long time and I am thinking about kicking it into overdrive the next couple of weeks in hopes of getting under to 250 lbs.
So as I mentioned last week, I made a YouTube playlist of different workout videos. There is Zumba, Salsa, strength training, in-home walking, some Jillian Micheal, Bob Harper, and more. Each video is anywhere from 10 minutes to 50 minutes. There is a good variety here. As time goes on I will add more videos to the playlist. I will share the link below. If you see ore know of some videos that you would like to see added (this workout playlist is for any and everyone), just let me know.
If you or someone you know has a weight loss success story that you/they want to share, please contact me. I would love to do feature stories about that.
Here is the link to the playlist. Tell me what you think! I subscribed to a couple of the trainers channels. If you like them then do the same.
So at the start of this summer I weighed 264 lbs. I am now 254 lbs. So I have lost 10 lbs so far, some of which was lost prior to me blogging about my weight loss journey. At the start of the summer there were a pair of denim capris in my closet that I have not been able to get up past my butt and hips in the last two years. With a tiny bit of wiggling, not only did I get them up to my waist, I was able to fasten them up pretty comfortably!!!!!!
I am so excited!!!! I was determined to be able to wear these by the end of the summer and I accomplished that goal!!!!
Now I have to go through my closet and find another item to be my goal by Thanksgiving.
I am looking forward to being under 250 for the first time in years!!!! That is my short term goal to reach by the end of October.
So I gained 1 pound over the last week. All I can say about that is that it was "that time".
I am not fretting about it. I just know that I have more work to do. As the temp starts to cool, I realize that I need to sit down and come up with ways to still get in a decent calorie burn without doing all of the walk to and from work, plus to run small errands.
I have workout DVDs but I get bored easily. So I had a thought, why not create a list of workout videos on Youtube? You can put up to 200 videos in a single playlist. Put it on shuffle everyday and it is like a different workout, every day. So I am going to give that a try and once I am done making the playlist, I will share it with you all.
Looking for weight loss inspiration???? Check out the article below. I can't wait until I can get into a bikini and Michelle did it with hard work and determination. If you are tired of being overweight, no one has the power to change that but you!!! I am doing it week by week. Impossible, no. Hard, yes. But WE can get through this together.
I am working on my Weight Loss Week 4 Summary but I am having trouble getting my actual weight. I adopted a cat over the weekend and she follows me every where I go in the house when I get up in the morning and when I come home from work. She steps on the scale with me, being curious of course. So once I get a number, I will be posting!!!!
These items were added to my shop's clearance section this week. All are marked 50% off original price! Click on the titles of each item above the picture and it will take you directly to that listing.
I have been off my normal schedule with postings and really couldn't think of anything that I should post today (and I felt that I needed to post something). So I am going to share some pictures that I found online of my #1 celebrity crush (I have a couple): the very fine Idris Elba. Enjoy ladies!!!!
I am just getting back from a family event that was this past weekend. I had tons to do to prep for it. I am trying to get back into the swing of things but it may take some time!!!
So I lost 0.3 lbs this week. I am happy with that considering that I did not do any extra walking this week and I was around lots of food. I really didn't eat any sweets and I tried to go for any fruits and veggies first. There was lots of pasta and I limited my consumption of that.
That is all for now. I will get back on my schedule of posting and walking this week.
Sorry this is late. I am very busy this week so I will not be posting as often as I normally would.
I just wanted to give you an update about how things are going. I am down 2.9 lbs this week!!!!!! That makes a total of 5.3 lbs lost since I started 3 weeks ago. I am very happy with that since I have a goal of loosing at least 5 lbs per month. Walking and water were my best friends last week!!!
Let me know how things are going with your WL Journey in the comments below. If you would like your success to be featured in an upcoming blog, click on my name to view my profile and send me a message.
Planning is everything in all aspects of life!!! If you have no plan, then you plan to fail. It is a very simple concept that can be applied to weight loss.
So here is my planning tip: Plan out your meals for the week!!
This helped me tremendously last week. How many times have you been so busy with work, projects, family, or whatever else that you didn't realize that you were hungry until your stomach made a very loud proclamation saying "I'm empty, feed me now!"?And of course, the quickest "meal" that you can eat is more than likely not the healthiest. Between school, work, this blog, and trying to get my Etsy shop to the point where it will replace and exceed my income from work, this happens to me a lot.
On Saturday, figure out what you want to eat for the next several days and pick it up at the grocery store. On Sunday, make it and refrigerate it. I now keep a large bowl of salad and fruit in my fridge. So when hunger hits and waiting for something to get done cooking is not exactly feasible, I can quickly grab some salad and/or fruit. I also bake up a couple of chicken breast and some fish that I can just heat to go along with my fruit and veggies. It is an instant meal!
If you have school aged kids having a ready to eat bowl of fruit for them to eat when they get home from school is a great way for you to get your entire household on a healthy road and is a lot better than them heating up some frozen pizza rolls or corn dogs.
I am a true 4C. There is absolutely no curl definition to my hair. It is just there!!! Some areas of my hair are more stubborn that others, which is typical on any head of hair. So when I would do my twist (no matter the size), some of them would come completely apart before I was done with my entire head or overnight. It was so frustrating.
So when I twisted my hair after washing it last Saturday, I double twisted my hair and the twists held over the weekend until I was ready for the twist out on Monday. What is a double twist? Basically, it is two twists twisted together. You do the normal two strand twists. Take two of those twist and twist them together like you would do for a normal twist. That is it!
The double twist held together great. It also gave a little bit more definition and texture to my hair, which I love.
