What a Week & Fitness Challenge

This week has been busy! I added five new lapel pins to my shop, two of which I have to make matching hair puns for (picture below). I entered a contest by the Accessories Council for Emerging Designers, which meant I had to update Deon & Dion's business plan and create a look book (never done before). But I got it done. I won't know anything about it until next month. Three of my little cousins have put in their Christmas gift requests. Is it really that time? Geesh. But they are all things that they want me to make. It touches my heart to know that they would prefer me to make them something instead of buying a gift or giving them money.

Oh and my thighs feel like bricks after last week's fitness challenge.

So what is this week's fitness challenge? A move that I don't too much care for BUT it engages the entire body and gets the heart  rate up and is a favorite of the coaches on The Biggest Loser. BURPEES! Again, do as many as you can do, as quickly as you can (without losing proper form) today and try adding at least five more on each day this week. As I did last week, I am going to do them during the commercial breaks of my soaps. Here is a video of how to properly do a burpee: Burpees - How To Do Burpees and Avoid Common Inju…: http://youtu.be/tJrdJBWBu08 . I don't want anyone getting hurt and please consult a doctor before doing any vigorous exercise.

Insanity and Buddies!!!

So I started doing the Insanity Workout Program with a co-worker this past Monday. We come into work each morning and talk about how well (or not so well) we did with the workout the night before and how we are feeling now. My co-worker, Todd, has become my fitness buddy. I will get into more details about that later.

But back to the Insanity Workout. One, it is called Insanity for a reason!!! The warm ups alone had me sweating and I really have to push myself to get through it. Tonight's workout (Day 3) was the Cardio Power and Resistance. I actually got through this one a lot better than I did the Day 2 workout. My favorite move on there are called Globe Jumps. I am thinking of making that February's Workout Challenge. We will see! But the workout is very intense and I burned about 600 calories in the first thirty minutes of Day 2 workout (I didn't make it through the last 10 minutes)!!! As I am sitting on my coach typing this, my thighs are sparking like crazy. I am going to do some squats in the morning.

Now to my workout buddy. We bounce ideas off of each other about healthy recipes and just making some good and solid lifestyle changes. We also make fun of some of the people on the workout DVDs. Todd, even stopped me from taring into a bag of chocolates yesterday (and I was irritated and it was that time). I didn't like him in that moment but I do surely appreciate it!!!

It is nice having someone go through the journey with you. If you do not have a workout or fitness buddy, I encourage you to get one. Honestly, if it hadn't been for our little "check-ins" in the mornings, I may not have even workout out tonight because I really did not feel like it. Now that I have done it, I feel great!

That is all for now. Until next time loves!!!!

Great No Equipment Workout

I got this from one of my favorite blogs www.heyfranhey.com. I have been doing this workout for over a week (twice per day) and I love it. Because your body gets used to workouts (and I get bored easily), I am going to switch up my cardio workout every week or two. This is great because it has both strength training and cardio, both of which are crucial for weight loss and even maintaining a HEALTHY weight. So put on some pumping music, give this a try for about a week and let me know what you think!

You guys were loving that workout circuit I posted yesterday. Here’s another one with a little more intensity, since it combines cardio and strength training! (Cardio burns fat. Strength training builds muscle) Remember that 3 rounds means 3 times back to back, with 30 second breaks in between each.
P.S. If you don’t know the exercise, type the name into YouTube and you’ll see tons of videos showing you the proper form!
