New Year's Resolutions

As 2012 comes to a close, I would like to encourage everyone to do a few things, as much as possible moving forward into 2013.

1. Hug, kiss, and tell your loved ones that you love them more often. With the horrific events that happened this year that resulted in the senseless murders of so many adults and children. We all know that life is short but as of lately, life is being taken for granted at an alarming rate.

2. Be grateful. It is harder to take things for granted when you are mindful and grateful of what you have and where you are in life. This is a statement that we hear a lot but it is so true: there is someone that is worse off than you, no matter your situation. Hitting zero is different for everyone but don't let truly hitting zero (homeless, no family or friends to turn to, unable to do anything for yourself because you don't have even one penny, digging through the garbage for scraps and materials to use to keep warm and make shelter, feeling more hopeless than a penny with a hole it it) be when you start to appreciate and be grateful for what you once had. And don't just be grateful for the material things because those just go away once you are gone and often times before. If you still have your parents be grateful. So many babies lost their parents in 9/11 before they even had a chance to make a lasting memory of them. Be grateful for family, love, food (in moderation of course). Being grateful keeps you humble and gives you more of an open mind when it comes to helping others.

3. At least once per day, stop whatever you are doing, close your eyes, think of something pleasant (or something that you are grateful for), inhale deeply, slowly exhale, open your eyes, and smile. This little technique takes less than one minute but can be very useful in relieving stress. It refreshes you and slows you down a bit so that you don't just rush through your day and your life.

4. Whenever you see a Veteran or someone currently enlisted in the armed services, thank them. They did not have to make the sacrifice to keep us safe and with the freedoms that we often neglect. They are so under appreciated.

That is all for now loves. Until next time!

I'm Back!!!!

Greeting! Greeting! Greetings!

It has been such a long time since I last posted. Been busy with school. So happy that I will be done this coming April! I hope that all has been great with all who read my posts. Oh, and happy holidays!

Soooo, here is what's new. First, (I am oh so very excited about this one), Deon and Dion Fashions is adding a men's line that will be called, well, Deon and Dion Fashions Men. The line will feature neckties and hankies and further down the line, dress shirts. The thought came to me because I made my grandfather a tie for his Christmas present. One of my uncles (he really like to dress up), asked me if I can do tie and hankie sets and/or shirt, tie, and hankie sets. I said sure (anything is possible)! On my way back to my mom's, that this is something that I can really do. I did a search on Etsy and didn't find to many tie and hankie sets and absolutely no shirt, tie, and hankie set even though you can find them in the stores like that. I wanted to add women's clothing to my line this spring/summer, but I may put that off until next year because of the new men's line.

Second, I do not remember the last time that I worked out. I know that I have gained. I have not been on the scale to actually look at the number. So I will be back on my weight loss journey and I will document it here for you all. I said this before but I would really like to create a community where we help and support each other because weight loss can be a daunting tasks and sometimes down right frustrating. The only reason that I have for not staying on top of my workouts is that I was being lazy and was tired of my body being sore. It is soo easy to stop and when you think about it, it can be really hard to keep going. I have been struggling with my weight for years and I am determined to not let myself get any bigger than what I am.  I would like to get a trainer but can't afford it right now so I am going to have to push myself. You are going to have to push me and I will be here to push and encourage you. I really hope that not too many of you have fallen off the weight loss wagon like I did. Even if you did, let's jump back on it together and take control of this two-horse drawn carriage and not let Food (horse 1) and Lack of Exercise (horse 2) control us.

So tell me, how have thing been for you?

That is all for now loves. Until next time!

Play Your Part

As I sit in the parking lot of my voting precinct I would like to take the time to ask all of America to go out and vote today, if you haven't already. If you have already voted or cannot vote for any reason, pleade get people to the polls.
Being able to vote on the laws and people that govern you is what the American Revolution and the fight for Civil Rights for all were about.
Be grateful of your ancestors. Go out and vote.
Until next time loves.
